$18 Million Endowment Announced for Theoretical Physics Research

A gift of $90 million will be shared with UC Berkeley and three other institutions, which will strengthen existing theoretical physics programs. The gift from the Leinweber Foundation in Michigan will establish four Leinweber Institutes for Theoretical Physics at the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and UC Berkeley, and the Leinweber Forum for Theoretical and Quantum Physics at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.
