California Memorial Stadium Celebrates 100th Anniversary

The 100th anniversary of California Memorial Stadium. The stadium first opened its doors on Nov. 24, 1923, when the Golden Bears hosted Stanford in the Big Game. Cal Athletics will spend the upcoming football season honoring the past century with promotions, giveaways, and special events.

Upcoming promotions planned to recognize the anniversary during Cal home football games this season:

·       Oct. 7 vs. Oregon State: In addition to it being Homecoming, the first 10,000 fans entering the stadium will receive a commemorative field rally towel

·       Nov. 11 vs Washington State: We wrap up the home schedule with a stadium replica for the first 10,000 fans.

Built on the Hayward Fault, California Memorial Stadium underwent a 21-month renovation project that began in 2010 that included seismic upgrades to continue ensuring the safety of all that visit. For more information you can go to "CMS 100" homepage on CalBears.com. This aims to be a source for stories, memories, information and more. And alumni can also share their favorite story or greatest memory of California Memorial Stadium here.
